I knew they’d feel uneasy in their answers – Wisdom Woyomee on NSA Parliamentary Hearing

Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture, and Tourism, Wisdom Kobena Woyome, has expressed that he was not shocked by the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) uneasy responses during the inquiry into the poor condition of sports facilities across Ghana.

Woyome, who is also the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports following the second day of the hearing.

During the first day of the proceedings, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif appeared before the committee, with Woyome describing the Minister’s approach as overly defensive.

On Day Two, NSA Board Chairman Seth Panwum addressed several concerns, particularly the fact that Ghana lacks a CAF-approved stadium for hosting international matches.

Woyome commented on the matter afterward.

“Of course, I expect them to always be a bit jittery with answers to some of the questions because when I wanted them to know that it appears they are overwhelmed, I mean they are overwhelmed with all the responsibilities that they need to manage all these facilities across the country and they are not able hence the situation we find the facilities in.”

Ghana is on the cards to play its “home” 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan in October outside Ghana due to the absence of a CAF-approved stadium in the country.
