Hearts of Oak CEO condemns behaviour of fans at the Baba Yara Stadium

Chief Executive Officer of Hearts of Oak Mark Noonam has condemned the behaviour of their supporters during their friendly encounter against rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians tasted a 2-0 defeat at the hands of their arch-rivals, to record back to back losses against Asante Kotoko in the space of seven days – having lost by the same number of goals against their rivals last week.

Striker Obed Owusu opened the scoring for the Reds after a swift counter attacking football before Emmanuel Gyamfi sealed victory with a fine strike. Both goals came in the second half.

In the build up to Porcupine’s first goal, Hearts winger Patrick Razak was dispossessed off the ball in the Kotoko goal area by defender Agyemang Badu, which the fans believed should have merited a penalty but was waved off by referee Kwame Sefah.

The supporters of the Accra-based giants vented their frustration on the official and started throwing missiles onto the pitch which led to the arrest of seven of their fans.

In the aftermath of the match, Hearts of Oak chief took to his Twitter handle to condemned the actions of their teeming fans.

During yesterday’s match, a group of supporters took out their frustrations by destroying public property and acting in a manner that is inconsistent with Club values. We condemn this unsporting behavior in the strongest possible manner and offer our sincere apologies. #AHOSC
