God has been good to us – Mahama says as NDC holds Thanksgiving at Perez Chapel

Members of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) joined members of the Perez Chapel International in Accra to thank God for peaceful and ‘successful’ primaries.

The newly elected flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama said the visit was not merely an individual decision but a group visit to thank God.

He was joined by failed aspirants; Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Nurideen Iddrisu, Sylvester Mensah, Alban Bagbin, party executives, and his wife, Lordina Mahama who were all clad in white for the service.

He, however, mentioned that Goosie Tanoh’s absence was due to other engagements he had to attend to.

According to the erstwhile president, God has been good to the party since the 2016 loss to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said that although the loss turned into a blame game with morale being low among the party executives and members, he had to take the blame to avoid further estrangement in the party.

“I remember post election, morale was very low. Our party had gone in the blame game with party members blaming one another. Our party was thrown into acrimony and finger pointing. So I decided to take the blame and asked them to do the finger pointing at me instead.”

John Mahama further described the flagbearership election as the most successful election held in the party by far.

He thanked party executives for the level-headedness from when the party lost in 2016 till date.

Mahama encouraged party members and executives not to only work hard towards making the party a victory but victory towards the 2020 polls.
