Ghanaians have endorsed my 24-hour economic policy; the NPP campaign is in a tailspin – Mahama

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, said during a national policy forum at the Peduase Lodge that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is feeling uneasy due to the overwhelming endorsement of his 24-hour economy idea.

During the gathering on February 23, Mahama criticised the NPP campaign team for attacking his proposal, pointing out that the NPP’s response indicates a sense of panic.

Key members of NPP have expressed concerns about the lack of clarity in the 24-hour economy proposal, with some arguing that it is already operational.

Mahama, undeterred by the criticisms, asserted, “The widespread acceptance of the 24-hour policy appears to have sent the NPP campaign into a tailspin, leading to a frantic effort to attack it through calumny and disinformation in the last few days.”

He further highlighted his commitment to reducing the size of the government if elected, noting that his opponent, Vice President Bawumia, made similar promises in response.

Mahama emphasised his dedication to delivering on his promises and criticised the NPP flagbearer for attempting to distance himself from the economic challenges.

Mahama contrasted his performance as Vice President with the current vice president, Dr. Bawumia, stressing his record of taking responsibility.

He argued, “Not only do I have a much better and measurable performance record in both my role as Vice President and Head of the Economic Management Team, and later as President, than my leading contender in this year’s elections, I also have a record of taking responsibility. The same cannot be said of my opponent.”
