The Ghana Education Service (GES) is unsure when first year senior high school (SHS) students of the 2018/2019 academic year will go to school.
“Management is, however, hopeful that the opening date for the 1st year students on the GREEN Track will coincide with that of the continuing students as it happened in the 2017/2018 academic year,†a statement signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit of GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said.

The reopening for continuing students has, however, been scheduled for 8 September.
The statement assured that reopening for the 1st year students, who form the second batch of the Free SHS policy, will be announced soon.
There has been controversy over how admission for this batch will be done as government rolls out a double intake system to cater for the growing number in enrollment.

Government has indicated that not all schools will be roped into the new system.
“Details of the academic calendar for first years, together with the list of schools running the double track would soon be published,†the statement said.
