A police reinforcement team from the Eastern regional Command is heading to Akyem Gyampomani and Hemang communities to maintain law and order following clashes between residents of the two communities after a protest by residents of Akyem Hemang against Dome Mining.

The town folks protesting the pollution of the Birim river and degrading of the environment by the mining firm.
Residents of Gyampomani subsequently mounted road block preventing cars from moving to and from the Akyem Hemang amidst molestation and manhandling of drivers and passengers, while threatening to clash with protesters at Akyem Hemang opposing mining in the area.

They accused residents of Akyem Hemang of being incited by their destooled chief Prof. Mirikissi Apori Atta.
Police team from Kibi District which later arrived in the community were resisted by the residents of Gyampomani hence the deployment of Counter Terrorism Unit from the Regional Police Command to the community.
