Pick-up lands on its back in police induced accident

A double cabin pick-up somersaulted and landed on its back, while a Toyota Vitz also got seriously dented after the two vehicles collided Monday morning at the Airport Junction traffic intersection around the Airport View Hotel.

The incident occurred when a police outrider accompanying a V8 car from the Tetteh-Quarshie end of the road and heading towards 37 signaled for cars from that end to move on while the traffic light showed red.

This was to clear the road for the V8 car he was accompanying to move on without hindrance.

As the cars from the Tetteh Quarshie end started moving, a Toyota Vitz car collided with a pick-up car which was coming from the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) end of the road heading towards the Airport View Hotel road.

Traffic lights directing traffic from the KIA end was green so the vehicles were already moving.

The pick-up somersaulted as a result of the collision and landed on its back.

Security personnel and onlookers managed to pull out those in the pick-up and also had to turn it onto its wheels.

As at the time Graphic Online was leaving the scene, the injured drivers were being sent to the Hospital for treatment.
