The re-elected Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiko, has urged all supporters of the party to remain united following the regional executive elections held on Saturday, May 28.
Delivering his victory speech, Mr Antwi-Boasiko, also known as Chairman Wontumi, informed party faithfuls there were no losers or victors in the just-ended elections held in the region.
In the local parlance, translated by The Independent Ghana, he said: “All those who vied for positions in this election, no one can be described as a loser.â€
In view of this, he urged all supporters of the party to stay united and resolve whatever grievances that they may have.
He referenced the adage that talks about how the teeth and tongue sometimes clash, but remain united after whatever conflict there was.
Chairman Wontumi told the supporters that without unity, it would be difficult for the governing NPP to emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections.
He also used the opportunity to thank all who believed he could hold the fort and voted to retain him as the Ashanti Regional Chairman.
This is the third time Chairman Wontumi has been elected to serve in that capacity.
Mr Bernard Antwi-Boasiko first won the position in 2014. He was re-elected in 2018.
