The New Patriotic Party will on December 29 elect a candidate to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat.
The seat was being held by one of its members, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko until his demise on November 21, 2018, something that has necessitated the conduct of a by-election in the constituency.
Consequently, the NPP has opened nominations Friday to allow interested party members pick up forms to contest the by-election that is required to be held 60 days after a seat becomes vacant.
They have up to December 22 to pick up nomination form at a cost of 1,000 cedis and file same on December 23 with a non-refundable filing fee of 10,000 cedis. Female aspiring candidates as well as the youth and persons with special needs have been given a special 50 per cent discount in respect of the filing fees.
Vetting of the candidates has been scheduled for December 24 at the party headquarters in Accra, a statement from the party General Secretary John Boadu announced.
Meanwhile, the party said it has constituted a 5-member elections committee to be chaired by Peter MacManu to supervise the conduct of this conference.
Mr. Agyarko who would have turned 61 years on December 10, died on Wednesday, November 21 in the United States where he was flown to by his family for medical care.
