NPP bigwigs shy away as nomination process for parliamentary primaries ends

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) concluded the nomination process for parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) on Monday, December 25.

Notably, influential figures like Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Daniel Kwaku Botwe, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, and Samuel Atta-Akyea of Abuakwa South are reportedly not seeking re-election.

NPP initiated nominations on December 20, 2023, and has set January 27, 2024, for the final stage of internal elections to select parliamentary candidates for the upcoming 2024 elections.

Fierce contests are anticipated in Dome-Kwabenya, Ablekuma West, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Asante Akyem South, Akim Swedru, Bantama, Bekwai, and Fomena constituencies.
