Mugabe is helping the CID investigate his claim that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans assassinating Multimedia journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni for his recent exposé about a group known as De-Eye, which the journalist claims is a militia group that has been camped at the Christianborg Castle and being given military-style training by the governing party.
The government has denied that the group is a militia.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told journalists at a press conference that the documentary put together by Joy FM clearly shows that the group is into finding jobs for young people rather than being a militia, as the report sought to portray.

Subsequently, the Minister of state in charge of national security at the presidency, Mr Bryan Acheampong, said the group does not even qualify for a school cadet, adding that it was only into job recruitment.
Mugabe spent several hours with the CID on Tuesday before he was released late in the night.
His lawyer George Loh told journalists that: “We received an invitation to come and help the police with investigations today. We came, we interacted with the team of investigators. We have given them a statement and we are supposed to report back tomorrow [Wednesday] for further deliberations and instructionsâ€.
