Man murders wife 2 months after their wedding

A devastating event in Dunkwa Mfuom, within the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly, has plunged the community into sorrow

Gifty Mensah, a 34-year-old hairdresser, met a tragic end in a brutal act of violence committed by her husband, Joseph Quakson, merely two months after their wedding.

The heartbreaking news follows a series of tragic events for the couple, who had been in a relationship for seven years before exchanging vows.

Regrettably, the joy of their marriage was overshadowed by a sequence of unfortunate events, culminating in the tragic loss of their son on December 31, 2023.

Although the motive behind the husband’s actions remains unclear at the moment, reports suggest that the sudden loss of their child intensified the grief and strain in their relationship, ultimately leading to this tragic outcome.

The community is now dealing with the aftermath of a tragedy that has devastated the lives of those affected, leaving the community in mourning over the untimely loss of a young woman with a promising future.

According to two daughters of the women brought to the marriage from an early relationship, the couple got into a fight which they saw as one of their usual fights.

Some minutes after hearing shouts from their mother, the children called on some neighbours who came to meet the bloodied body of the deceased with the suspect attempting to commit suicide through hanging.

The suspect was apprehended and taken to a hospital for medical treatment before being taken into custody.
