The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the addition of 778,447 new voters during the recent limited registration exercise, bringing the total number of valid voters on the roll to over 18.6 million.
This update was provided by EC chairperson Jean Mensa during a briefing to Parliament on preparations for the upcoming December 7 elections on Friday, July 19.
Following this, a list that represents the alleged regional representation has surfaced.
North East (335,786), Savannah (338,964), Ahafo (353,761), Oti (408,720), Upper West (518,781), Western North (521,910), Bono East (664,174), Bono (714,957), Upper East (735,282), Volta (1,017,671), Northern (1,199,429) Western (1,288,930), Central (1,734,180), Eastern (1,801,983), Ashanti (3,292,126) and Greater Accra (3,763, 754).
These figures provide a tally of 18,690,408.
It is important to note these figures have not been confirmed by the Electoral Commission.
Meanwhile, Jean Mensa has revealed plans for a mop-up exercise scheduled from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, August 3. This exercise will be conducted at all district offices, including the newly established Guan district, to ensure all eligible voters are registered.
In light of this mop-up exercise, the voter exhibition exercise has been rescheduled to August.
