After Ken Ofori-Atta’s removal as Finance Minister on February 14, 2024, reports surfaced from pro-government media outlets suggesting his reappointment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a senior presidential advisor on the economy.
Asaase Radio indicated that he would also serve as the nation’s special envoy on international investment and capital markets.
Subsequently, a letter dated February 15, 2024, from the Office of the President emerged, confirming Ofori-Atta’s reappointment.
Signed by Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the letter stirred concerns among many, highlighting worries about Ofori-Atta’s extended influence within the government.
“I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Republic has appointed you as the Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investments.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your reassignment and wish you the very best in this new office. Please accept the President’s best wishes,” part of the letter reads.
