Adansi Asokwa MP, Kobina Tahir Hammond, extends petition to NPP National Vetting Committee, seeking disqualification of all three opponents in parliamentary primaries.
Earlier, on January 2, 2024, Hammond petitioned the Ashanti Regional Vetting Committee, seeking the disqualification of his main opponent, Sammy Binfoh Darkwa.
The regional committee cleared both candidates, prompting Hammond to escalate the petition to the National Vetting Committee.
Dissatisfied with the decision of the Ashanti Regional Vetting Committee, Hammond expressed discontent with the ruling by NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
K.T. Hammond asserts that his rivals, notably Sammy Binfoh Darkwa, the Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company, do not meet the eligibility criteria for participating in the parliamentary primaries, as outlined in Article 12(4) and (7) of the party’s constitution.
He urges the National Vetting Committee to disqualify his opponents based on the allegations he has raised against them, citing their purported lack of affiliation with the NPP and minimal contributions to the constituency’s advancement.
Simultaneously, the campaigning for the January 27 primaries has escalated, with aspirants actively engaging delegates in preparation for the upcoming election.
