Immigration officer reportedly shot dead in Bawku

Information coming in is that an immigration officer has been shot dead at Bawku in the Upper East Region.

According to Citinewsroom, the deceased officer has been identified as 42-year-old Philip Motey.

The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred on Monday, April 3, 2023.

The unknown assailants who launched the attack also injured two other officers, who together with Philip, were driving from Bawku to Missiga.

The two; Eric Ayibiya, 30, and Laurence Afri, 42, are said to be receiving medical treatment at the Bawku Presbyterian hospital.

It is currently unknown the motive behind the attack.

In a related development, a yellow-yellow tricycle operator, Imoro Bello, was also murdered by unknown gunmen.

Currently, Bawku is working on addressing the ethnic conflict it has battled with for years.
