A communications team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency of Ashanti region, Daniel Akurugu, has reacted to the “false†claims by residents in the constituency that, the MP for the area, Mr Adomako Mensah, has refused to hand over to them some bulbs handed over to him by the Energy Ministry.
He described the claims as unfortunate and one orchestrated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to tarnish the image of the MP.
The residents led by Mr Amoh Justice who double as constituency secretary of NPP said that, all efforts to get clarification from their MP over the matter failed because he did not answer their calls.
According to him, residents had received an information that, the ministry of energy distributed 40 led bulbs to all 275 members of parliament for them to distribute to their various constituencies to help enhance electrification system in the country but ever since the distribution was made, by the ministry, the MP has failed to submit it to the district assembly.
But the NDC officer denied the claims and clarified that although the bulbs were distributed to the MPs, the MP for the constituency had not gone for his because he was out of the country and was on an official parliamentary assignment.
He said, the MP who is a member on the Finance Committee of Parliament was delegated to represent the house together some four other MPs on an assignment outside the country.
He said he has personally spoken with the MP and he has promised to go for the bulbs and distribute them.
He expressed the disappointment of the NPP and asked the public to disregard the allegation.
