GWCL working to rectify Adabraka water shortage

The Accra East Region of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured residents of Adabraka and Asylum down in Accra that their taps will flow by close of Tuesday.

Residents in these areas have not had water running through their taps in the last 3 weeks.

The situation is a concern for the residents as school children and women are compelled to walk long distances with gallons in search of water.

But Engineer Emmanuel Johnson told Citi News brisk work is ongoing to rectify the problem.

“We are at the back of Paloma Hotel, what we are doing is we are tracing a suspected blockage through our 16 inches pipeline which is connected to Adabraka and some parts of Asylum Down, but what is hampering our efforts is the property which has been built on the pipeline, the pressure built up here is low, but we are very sensitive to their plight, I can also assure them that by close of today,” he stated.

The situation affected hundreds of residents; many of whom resorted to the use of water drawn from wells and sachet water for domestic purposes.
