The Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Godfred Odame says FIFA doesn’t recognize the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Speaking on News File on the Joy News channel in response to clarify some claims made by Mr. Randy Abbey a panelist on the show, the Attorney General disclosed that FIFA at the meeting with government on Friday revealed that the institution doesn’t recognize the current Ghanaian Football Administration.
This was however not captured in the joint statement of the government and FIFA after the meeting on Friday held in Accra.
According to the minister, FIFA extended the invitation to be in Ghana for the meeting and wanted to first meet some members of the FA administration and later meet with the delegation of the government of Ghana. However, upon arrival in Ghana, FIFA abandoned the idea because they thought it was not the right thing to do. He further revealed that FIFA has no intention to legitimize the operation of the GFA.
The government of Ghana after Anas’ Number 12 exposé, issued a roadmap to dissolve and reform the Football Association.
Next week the government of Ghana will continue with the interim arrangement of ensuring that the proper committee is set up take up the management of football in the country.
