A former Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ernest Brogya Genfi, wants Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, to face prosecution for the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
Mr Hussein-Suale was a member of Tiger Eye PI, which belongs to undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
He was shot by some unknown assailants on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 while driving home.
Following an investigative piece by Anas and his team dubbed “Number 12” which exposed some corrupt officials in Ghana’s Sports industry, primarily Kwesi Nyantakyi who was President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA); Hon. Kennedy Agyapong in his defence for the victims on Anas’ video, displayed the pictures of the investigative journalist and his team members.
Mr. Agyapong disclosed the identity and residence of Ahmed Hussein-Suale inciting people to beat him up for alleged corrupt practices and an informant of the undercover investigations by Anas.
Addressing the issue on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Brogya Genfi stated emphatically that Mr. Agyapong cannot be exonerated from the murder of the journalist.
He wondered how the Assin Central Member of Parliament could be allowed to travel outside Ghana when there is a murder case pending of which he is a person of interest in the said case.
To him, the fact that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong disclosed the identity of the journalist and directed people to his vicinity, means he “aided and abetted†in the crime.
“He cannot be excused in such matters. That saddens me about the Police Service because I heard they invited him yesterday (Thursday). After which he (Kennedy Agyapong) was allowed to travel. How can this happen in this country? This cruel thing happens and Police have a cause to believe that he has said something related to it or he has provided an opportunity for someone to know the gentleman and attack him, then he is allowed to travel. How can that happen?â€
“For Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to come on live television and display the picture of the man…disclosing the residence of the person and inciting people to beat him and if the person has been shot, you would have aided and abetted in that crime,†he stressed.
