After four days and a few hours of continuous singing, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has successfully reached the 105-hour mark, surpassing the benchmark set by India’s Sunil Waghmare, the current Guinness World Record holder.
The accomplished mother of three embarked on the challenge for the longest singing marathon by an individual on December 24, 2023, and persevered until December 28, 2023.
Throughout the marathon, she adhered to brief 20-minute breaks after every four hours, showcasing her resilience and dedication as a former beauty queen and emerging journalist.
The challenge required her to sing various genres of Ghanaian songs.
Afua Asantewaa is far from finished; she is determined to extend her singing marathon to the 120-hour mark, potentially setting a challenging new record for others to surpass.
Ghanaians rallied in overwhelming numbers at Akwaaba Village, expressing their love and support for Afua Asantewaa. The gathering included prominent figures like Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Efya, Fella Makafui, Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah, Sammy Awuku, Lil Win, DKB, SDK, Kuame Eugene, and others.
Now, the stage is set for Guinness World Records to review the evidence that will be submitted, leading to an official announcement regarding whether Afua Asantewaa successfully achieved this remarkable feat.
Until then, Afua Asantewaa has emerged as a miniature star, showcasing to Ghanaians the heights that can be reached when united in collective effort.
