‘Ex-convict’ Kwame Bonsu set for greater heights- Yusif Chibsah

Ex-Asante Kotoko and Black Stars player Yusif Alhassan Chibsah says in-form Asante Kotoko midfielder Kwame Bonsu Conte is set for greater heights after the player has seen a resurgence in his career after been released from prison a year ago.

The 23-year-old spent one-year in prison out of the two years handed him after being found guilty of sexual assault on his former wife.

Yusif Chibsah who currently manages Kwame Bonsu admitted that the player’s rise in form after all his miseries is as a result of his hardwork and determination and he has more to offer Ghana football.

“I personally believe it’s a blessing in disguise but it doesn’t just happen,It calls for hardwork, determination and discipline. He didn’t have it easy,he struggled to earn a first team place but through the encouragement we gave and his hardwork,he’s doing great now”, he told Kumasi FM.

“I’ve known him for a couple of years and I know his qualities and abilities reason why I’ve been behind him all this while but I’ve cautioned him against complecency. “He is a player who started his football in Kumasi and those who know him can testify he has more in him. He has a lot more to offer for Ghana football,we need to guide and encourage him”, he added.

After an impressive performance against Nkana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on match day four of the CAF Confederation Cup, there have been calls from some football fans and the media to Kwesi Appiah to hand Kwame Bonsu a national team call up.
