Singer-songwriter 2Lock, formerly known as Nana Fynn, shared insights about his relationship with Sarkodie, describing the rap star as practically family.
In a recent interview with Nana Romeo on Ayekoo Ayekoo, 2Lock reminisced about watching Sarkodie growing up in Tema Community 9.
He recalled Sarkodie’s early interest in music, attributing it to his mother’s influence, and noted how Sarkodie frequented his studio during his budding years in the industry.
Describing Sarkodie as “my child,” 2Lock emphasized their familial bond, likening Sarkodie more to a nephew than a brother. Despite their age gap, 2Lock recognized Sarkodie’s talent early on, praising his rap prowess and foreseeing his enduring success in the music industry.
Regarding their collaboration on the track “Forever,” 2Lock revealed that it came together seamlessly after a visit to Sarkodie’s home near his studio.
He dispelled the notion that Sarkodie is reluctant to collaborate, citing their productive studio session and affirming Sarkodie’s openness to partnerships, albeit acknowledging his busy schedule.
Overall, 2Lock’s reflections painted a picture of mentorship and mutual respect between himself and Sarkodie, highlighting the rapper’s innate talent and dedication to his craft.
“Sarkodie is my child, I cannot call him my brother. He is my nephew, more or les.
“I went to his house – at the time, my studio was close to his home – I asked to see him, and we sat and discussed the song. That very afternoon, he came to my studio and we killed the song,” the Odo Handkerchief hitmaker narrated.
“He didn’t leave till we finished the song.”
