Ghanaian reggae dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, has stirred controversy once again by asserting that he played a pivotal role in earning respect for fellow musicians Sarkodie and Stonebwoy within the industry.
In a recent interview, Shatta Wale expressed his disapproval of media personalities like Abeiku Santana and Andy Dosty while emphasizing his contributions to the entertainment sector.
Shatta Wale acknowledged his imperfections as a musician and the various conflicts with other artists but maintained that he is the driving force behind the current prosperity of Ghanaian musicians.
According to him, before he entered the music scene, local musicians were undervalued, impoverished, and lacked respect.
The controversial artist asserted that he enlightened figures like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy on the importance of effective branding and charging higher fees, which, in his view, has significantly improved the livelihoods of Ghanaian musicians.
Shatta Wale urged a focus on industry growth, highlighting the transformation from a time when musicians struggled financially to the present, where he claims to have paved the way for enhanced recognition and prosperity.
“We are growing, let us talk about the growth so that the youth will learn from it. Ghana music is not about the olden days when the musicians were not having money.
“Right now, I have paved the way and when someone sees Sarkodie, they will respect him, when someone sees Stonebwoy they will respect him. I have done a whole lot of things for this industry”, Shatta Wale said.
