Entertainment pundit Kwame Obeng Asare, known as A Plus, has expressed satisfaction with the one-year-and-one-day prison sentence given to socialite Mona Faiz Montrage, also known as Hajia4Reall, for her involvement in a romance scam. Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on June 29, 2024, A Plus said that this punishment should serve as a deterrent to others engaging in similar fraudulent activities.
A Plus emphasized that the sentence is meant to awaken people to the consequences of their actions, rather than to be a source of joy. He advised those involved in romance scams to cease their illegal activities to avoid similar repercussions.
“We shouldn’t take pleasure in another’s misfortune. I’m not overjoyed about the prison term,” he told host MzGee. “We’ve all committed acts for which we could have been imprisoned if caught. This punishment is intended to awaken people to reality rather than cater to their desires.”
A Plus expressed confidence that Hajia4Reall has learned her lesson and hoped that others involved in scams would take note. He stressed that anyone caught in such activities would inevitably face imprisonment.
Hajia4Reall was sentenced in the U.S. for her role in a scam that generated over $2 million. She was arrested in the UK in November 2022 and extradited to the U.S. in May 2023. Although she faced a possible five-year term after her guilty plea in February 2024, the judge showed leniency, considering her good behavior.
