Felicity Asantewaa is gearing up to make a splash as she takes on the challenge of a ‘washcar-a-thon’ scheduled for March 9, 2024.
With unwavering determination, Felicity aims to break the Guinness World Record for the most cars washed by an individual in an impressive 8-hour time span.
The unique event will unfold near the Executive Club in East Legon.
Her ambitious pursuit is fueled by a passion for empowering young women in Ghana, promoting gender equality, and highlighting the diverse opportunities available to them.
Felicity aims to demonstrate that women can excel in traditionally male-dominated roles, such as car washing, and hopes to inspire financial independence among young women.
“It’s not about taking over or competing with men, but rather showcasing that women are capable of the same opportunities for a living,” she told the media. “For instance, we now have women driving commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks, engaging in various activities, demonstrating their independence.”
She continued: “I have observed that the car washing job has been dominated by males in Ghana; however, I believe females can equally do this work perfectly. To promote the name of Ghana as well as empower young women out there, I want to demonstrate to my fellow young people that women can also consider the job of car washing to make a living and ultimately gain financial independence.”
Choosing car washing as her avenue for empowerment, Felicity explained, “Though I don’t have a car now, I love cars. I also know a lot about car brands. So, when I thought of empowering young women and promoting Ghana, I chose what I love to do to have an impact in the young women’s world.”
She invites the public to join the excitement at East Legon Go Go Wash premises, near the Executive Club, starting at 7 am. Felicity promises a day filled with fun, Ghanaian music, and giveaways to engage the audience.
Felicity Asantewaa joins the growing list of Ghanaians striving to make their mark in the Guinness World Records. This trend gained momentum in December 2023 with Afua Owusu Asantewaa Aduonum’s daring sing-a-thon and Chef Faila’s record-setting cook-a-thon, adding a new dimension to Ghana’s pursuit of Guinness World Records.
