Afia Akoto, former Deputy NPP Communications Director, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kwame A Plus, detailing her demands from the defendant. She alleged that his deliberate statements were intended to harm her reputation and create public disaffection. Through her legal representatives, she has specified four reliefs sought:

A declaration that specific statements in Kwame A Plus’s Facebook posts dated July 12, 2024 (specifically paragraphs 9 and 12 of her statement of claim), are defamatory.

Damages amounting to GH₵5,000,000.00 (Five Million Ghana Cedis) for defamation, inclusive of exemplary and punitive damages.

A perpetual injunction to prevent Kwame A Plus from further publishing or causing the publication of defamatory statements against her.

An order requiring Kwame A Plus to retract the defamatory statements made in the July 12, 2024, Facebook publications and issue a public apology of equal prominence.

Background:
Kwame A Plus had alleged that Afia Akoto attempted to engage in a romantic relationship with Maxwell Mensah, the husband of actress Nana Ama McBrown. He claimed Afia sent nude photographs to Maxwell, which he intervened to prevent from being made public.

Additionally, A Plus criticized Afia for ingratitude and warned of repercussions for her actions.

“I spent days resolving this issue only for you to turn around and act foolishly. If I were to resend those photos to you, you’d scream ‘blood of Jesus!’ Ungrateful fool! Love yourself more than your party. Choose your battles wisely, or they will overwhelm you! Have you ever seen such foolishness?”
