In a recent interview, Claudette, the sister of multiple Grammy winner Celine Dion, shared a somber update on the singer’s ongoing battle with Stiff-Person Syndrome.
According to Claudette, Celine Dion is facing challenges in controlling certain muscle movements.
“She’s working hard, but she doesn’t have control over her muscles. What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly.’ It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know,” she said.
This update follows a year after Celine Dion announced her diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder characterized by painful muscle spasms and stiffness that significantly impacts daily life for those affected.
Due to the challenges posed by the disease, Celine Dion had to indefinitely postpone her highly anticipated Courage World Tour in May 2023, offering apologies to her devoted fans.
In an August 2023 interview with Le Journal de Montreal, Claudette conveyed optimism regarding their ongoing search for therapeutic treatments for the condition.
Additionally, she shared that their sister, Linda Dion, had relocated to Celine’s home to assist with the care of her three sons—René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson.
The entire family, including the sons and their aunt, is actively participating in Celine’s treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery process.
