Media personality Bridget Otoo has issued an apology to the Roman Catholic Church of Ghana after previously suggesting that priests should be allowed to marry.

She clarified that her initial opinion was influenced by the perception that some Catholic priests engage in inappropriate behavior, including acts of sodomy with young boys at the altar, in an attempt to satisfy their desires.

In her apology, Bridget Otoo also revealed instances of priests committing sexual assault against women and fathering multiple children, with the church being aware of these actions but allegedly turning a blind eye.

“Can we Catholics also copy others and let our priests marry instead of the immoral lives they are living? Having children, some raping women and sodomising innocent boys at the altar? That’s not Christlike,” Bridget Otoo said as she sparked controversy.

Bridget Otoo's comments faced criticism from some individuals who expressed their displeasure on her social media page. Shortly afterward, she retracted her earlier statement and issued an apology for making the suggestion.

However, she emphasised the importance of the Catholic Church addressing the matter promptly.

“I’m sorry for suggesting that Catholic priests be allowed to marry; I was trying to be kind. If they won’t change their paedophilia, sodomising young boys at the alter, raping women and having multiple children all over with the church covering it, I suggest we castrate them,” she wrote on her X page.

The question of allowing Catholic priests to marry has been raised by certain individuals, yet it has not received the necessary attention from the church authorities.
