Ashfoam signs MoU with GOC to become headline sponsors

Foam manufacturing company, Ashfoam Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to become the headline sponsors of the body charged with developing and protecting the Olympic Movement in Ghana.

According to the President of the GOC, Ben Nunoo Mensah the MoU agreed Thursday during a meeting between the GOC and Ashfoam on Thursday in Accra will precede the official agreement in December.

Mr Mensah said the MoU which comes on the back of months of fruitful discussions between the two organisations is already in effect as his outfit has taken delivery of kits and mattresses meant for Ghanaian athletes who will participate in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games between October 6-18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“For a start, they have given us 50 polo shirts and 50 caps as well as mattresses for all the Team Ghana delegation going to the Games,” Mr Mensah said in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

He added: “For some time the GOC and Ashfoam have been holding talks about this agreement but it was a bit late because they had already done their budget for the year. What they want to do is to partner the GOC to develop sports.

“They would give sponsorship to the GOC to help all the sports federations. The sponsorship would mainly cover the kitting of our national teams but beyond that, they would also sponsor some events and reward athletes who win medals at international competitions”.

He said the eventual agreement which will be signed in December will also see Ashfoam sponsor the activities of talented Ghanaian athletes.

Mr Mensah also revealed that the GOC was also close to securing similar deals with Twellium Industries and Indomie to become the official beverage sponsor and meal sponsor of the GOC.

The Communications Manager of Ashfoam Ghana, Nana Yaw Ampen Darko said his outfit is committed to supporting the least funded sporting disciplined because they believe with the right investment they will reach the heights of football.
