Eating ‘Koobi’ peacefully is better than eating sardine with a slap – Otchere Ankrah to U.S. Ambassador

Lecturer at Central University College, Dr. Otchere Ankrah, emphasized the importance of national sovereignty, advising U.S. Ambassador Virginia Palmer to abstain from involvement in Ghana’s domestic policies.

Dr. Ankrah asserts that Ghana, as an independent nation, is fully capable of deciding its own course on matters such as anti-LGBTQ+ issues and other national policies.

The lecturer expressed concern over external powers consistently meddling in Ghana’s affairs, urging a hands-off approach and emphasising the nation’s right to self-determination.

“Every issue the U.S wants to dictate for us, our anti-LGBTQ+ issues has nothing to do with them, the car we want to drive they decide for us, they decide how to spend our money they should mind their own issues,” Dr. Otchere Ankrah to the U.S. Ambassador.

The US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, has expressed her dismay after Parliament approved a bill aimed at promoting human sexual rights and family values, commonly referred to as the anti-LGBT bill.

“I am saddened because some of the smartest, most creative, most decent people I know are LGBT. The bill Parliament passed takes away not only their basic human rights but those of all Ghanaians because it undermines their constitutional rights to freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of the press. It will be bad for public order and public health. If enacted, it will also hurt Ghana’s international reputation and Ghana’s economy.” #USAmbPalmer,” the tweet said.
