Driver runs over baby after mistaking break for accelerator

A vehicle with registration number CR 1410 -16 has run over a baby in the Assin Fosu main lorry station after the driver mistook accelerator for a break.

Some eyewitness who spoke to Adom News said the driver whose name is currently unknown, is a “Book Man” as popularly known in the transport business, decided to move an automatic vehicle from scale to pave way for other cars queuing to load at Breman Asikuma station in Assin Fosu in the Central region.

The Bookman who is not too familiar with the automatic vehicle driving mistook the break for the accelerator to move the car and run into vehicles and passengers who were at the station at the time of the incident

Several cars were damaged and passengers sustained minor degree of injuries.

Those in critical condition were rushed to St. Francis hospital in Assin Fosu for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command is silent on the matter, but Adom News can confirm that the car has been parked at the Fosu MTTD office and the driver is assisting the police for further investigation.
