The Association of Mortuary workers says dead bodies will be left in wards and emergency centres of hospitals from next week Tuesday, March 5, 2019, as they threaten to embark on a strike.

According to the General Secretary of the Association, Richard Jordan:”Nobody will come to work, no mortuary worker will be present to attend to dead bodies, they will be left in wards and emergency centres”.
The Secretary of the Association also stated that the Ministry of health has not been positive with them since they have failed to honour on the numerous promises to address their grievances.

”The Ministry has not been positive with us and we cannot allow this continue, they keep tossing us up and down and this time around we think that its proper for us morally and legally to embark on a strike. Nothing truthful has come out, all the things we put on paper; we have not seen any of them materialize. We realize they want to play games with us we cannot allow this anymore”, Richard Jordan.
The Association of Mortuary Workers in 2018, suspended a plan action strike to demand better conditions of service and improved working conditions. They are now accusing the Ministry of Health of failing to honour on the numerous promises to address their grievance.

Also, General Secretary of Mortuary Workers Association, Richard Jordan, in November 2018 made a sarcastic statement to the general public to postpone their deaths till their strike is over.
He said: “Those who intend to die during that period should wait when mortuary men are back to work they die.”
The mortuary workers at the time released a statement confirming their intention to embark on a strike after they accused the Ministry of Health of neglect over their concerns.
The mortuary workers said they overwork but are not paid for their overtime services.
