An ex-footballer, Kwesi Ramos has revealed how he had to prematurely end his football career because he was required to pay before earning a place in any of the national teams.
The player who gave a rather shocking account of corrupt practices in football administration in Ghana told Dj Nyaami of SVTV Africa he had no option but hang his boots because he could not meet the increasing monetary demands of those at the helm of affairs.

“Football deals with age and if you get to a certain age and the chances are not opening coupled with responsibilities you need to focus on other areas. I was called for trials in order to join Ghana U-20 but the whole thing was about money. When I arrived from the UK they were just not interested in how I play…someone boldly told me that if you give me this amount of money you will be partâ€, the nephew of Football legend Abedi Pele revealed.
According to him, the handlers at the time were prepared to field in him in the team if he agreed to pay a specific amount.

“I felt disappointed because I wanted to play for my country after spending 6 weeks in camp. It was one of the management members who contacted me. So on my return to the UK, I decided to quit football. It would have been a pride playing for my country but once that did not happen, I gave up and was very angry each time I say any team of Ghana playing in an international competitionâ€, he stressed.
