The Minister of Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has commissioned a newly constructed office complex for the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
The state-of-the-art four-story facility features a 200-seat auditorium, a boardroom, training facilities, a kitchen, and ample parking space.
Speaking at the event, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring fair wages and fostering decent working conditions. He emphasized that the new facility would improve the Commission’s operational efficiency and service delivery.
“The government is committed to creating an enabling environment for workers to thrive and improve productivity,” he said.
Mr. Baffour Awuah highlighted that the project aligns with President Akufo-Addo’s vision to equip the Commission with suitable office space to better serve the public. He urged staff to deliver top-notch services that justify the state’s investment in the facility.
Mr Arthur also assured the public that the building would be used responsibly, “We know other agencies under the Ministry have not been fortunate to get such infrastructure, and we will protect and use it for the benefit of all,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining the facility, advising management to allocate resources for its upkeep to ensure its longevity.
The Minister further disclosed that the government had supplied 16 pickup vehicles to the Labour Department and inaugurated 16 Public Employment Centres to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, a new office building for the Ministry, located near the Accra Sports Stadium, has been completed.
Reverend Richmond Okrah, the contractor for the project, noted that the construction was completed on schedule, taking nearly two years.
The Chief Executive of the FWSC, Benjamin Arthur, expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and the Ministries of Employment and Finance for their support. He described the office complex as a testament to the government’s dedication to advancing fair wages and salaries in Ghana.
Mr. Arthur also assured the public that the facility would be responsibly managed.
“This new office complex is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting fair wages and salaries in Ghana, we are grateful for this investment, which will enable us to better serve our stakeholders,” he said.
