Blackout: Were sorry GRIDCo

.The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has apologised to the general public for the blackout experienced in some parts of the country including western and central Accra as well as the northern part of Ghana on Tuesday, 12 March 2019.

GRIDCo, in a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Albert Kwesi Quainoo, explained that the outage occurred when some transmission lines in the west tripped together with all generating units at Aboadze, Bui, Asogli, Kpone and Kpong generating stations.

The statement said all transmission lines were restored by 19:12 hours but it took some time for some thermal generating units to restart, resulting in the long outage.

GRIDCo assured the public that it will continue to work with all stakeholders to provide adequate supply to customers.

This comes at a time that Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) has taken over the management of power distribution from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
