Alleged thief electrocuted in Sunyani

An alleged thief was electrocuted while attempting to break into a mechanic shop in Fiapre, Sunyani West Municipality.

According to reports, the thief went to the area at night with three other colleagues to engage in the crime.

The deceased, only known as Frimpong, alias “Akalin,” entered the shop through a small hole under it while the other accomplices were standing outside, according to Madam Akua Asamoah, a local resident who spoke to the GNA.

According to her, Frimpong stole some electrical wires from the store, but when he attempted to leave via the same entrance, he stepped on a live wire and was fatally electrocuted.

His loud shout caused his fellow thieves to flee, leaving him to his fate.

Mad. Asamoah claimed that when some neighbours heard the shout early in the morning, they went to the scene and discovered only one of the deceased’s hands sticking out of the store, while the other hand was holding a large number of wires.

She said they called the shop owner to inform him and when he came to open the shop, the thief was found dead on the floor surrounded by items.

Mad. Asamoah stated that the incident was reported to the Police, who then transported the body to the mortuary after taking some photos at the scene for investigations.
