Earlier this week, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, a media practitioner and philanthropist, marked her 46th birthday with a heartwarming celebration.
She chose to spend this special day at the Providence Orphanage in Aflao, where she celebrated with the children, and later with over 300 elderly widows gathered from various areas in the Ketu North District in Dzodze.
Accompanied by the MP for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Obuobia expressed her joy as she shared the occasion with the orphanage’s children.
She generously presented them with a wide range of essential items, including bags of flour, maize, rice, sugar, toiletries, detergents, cleaning supplies, cooking oil, drinks, and canned fish.
In Dzodze, where the widows and prominent figures from the district had assembled, Edem Agbana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu North, announced that Madam Obuobia had chosen to commemorate her birthday by having lunch with the widows and offering them birthday gifts.
Known for her kindness and generosity, Obuobia explained that she wanted to share her happiness with those who needed it most. As the Deputy Director of Communications for the NDC, she emphasized that her birthday celebration was not just about herself but about “sharing my blessings with those who needed it the most. True happiness comes from giving, which is exactly what I have been doing and will continue to do.”
The widows were deeply touched and appreciative of the delicious meal prepared for them. They felt loved and cared for, knowing that someone was willing to go the extra mile for their well-being.
Following prayers, a spokesperson for the widows expressed their gratitude to Madam Obuobia for her love, kindness, and generosity. They believed that her actions would serve as an inspiration for others to follow suit.
Obuobia was accompanied by Joyce Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Fafa Agbai, Volta Region Women’s Organiser, as well as some Constituency Women’s Organisers and their deputies.
