Manchester City is reportedly interested in pursuing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, after ending their pursuit of West Ham United’s Declan Rice according to the Sun.
De Jong, 26, has been linked with a potential departure from Camp Nou as Barcelona seeks to reduce their wage bill amid financial difficulties.
Although the Dutch midfielder is keen to stay at the club, Barcelona may consider selling him for a fee exceeding €100m.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has previously expressed admiration for De Jong and made an unsuccessful attempt to sign him in 2019. Meanwhile, Rice is reportedly close to joining Arsenal in a deal worth £100m plus add-ons.
