Bayern Munich has submitted a bigger offer of £70 million, along with potential additional payments, in their pursuit of England captain Harry Kane.
After their initial bid was turned down last month, the Bundesliga champions are hoping that this improved proposal will persuade Tottenham Hotspur to consider selling Kane, as reported by The Guardian.
Kane’s current contract is set to expire next summer, and with no new agreement in place, Spurs face the risk of losing their star player for free if they opt not to sell him during this transfer window.
However, it is anticipated that Tottenham will reject Bayern’s latest offer as they hold a valuation of £100 million for their all-time leading goalscorer.
Bayern have been offered encouragement that Kane would be interested in a move to Germany.
The 29-year-old is yet to win a single major trophy and knows that a switch to Munich would almost certainly see him end that drought.
It appears that the allure of silverware would even convince the Three Lions skipper to give up on his dream of breaking the all-time Premier League goals record.
Kane has scored 213 times in the top flight — 47 short of Alan Shearer’s 260 — and would surely surpass the Newcastle legend if he continues to play in England.
