Finals of UEFA Champions League likely to be played in USA after 2025 – President

Aleksander Ceferin, the head of UEFA, has discussed the potential of holding the Champions League final somewhere outside of Europe.

Up until this moment, every Champions League final has taken place in Europe. The main event will take place in Istanbul this year, with the other finals taking place in London and Munich.

According to GOAL, Ceferin would be open to exporting club football’s championship game, with the United States being the top choice given the sport’s growing popularity in the nation and its business opportunities.

“It is possible,” the 55-year-old football administrator told Men in Blazers, as quoted by talkSPORT.

“We started to discuss about that, but then one year it is World Cup, 2024 is Euro.

“This year [the final] is Istanbul, ’24 in London, ’25 in Munich. And after that, let’s see. It’s possible, it’s possible.”

Ceferin re-elected as UEFA boss

Aleksander Ceferin was re-elected unopposed for a third term as president of UEFA at a meeting of European football’s governing body in Lisbon on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old Slovenian lawyer, first elected in 2016 following the downfall of Frenchman Michel Platini, will remain in the role until 2027.

Ceferin’s re-election by acclamation comes after he fought off the breakaway European Super League project during his second term, and he will now oversee the introduction of a new format for the Champions League starting next year.

Wenger makes UCL final prediction

It was reported earlier that Arsene Wenger has weighed in on who, between Manchester City and Real Madrid, will reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City advanced to a third successive semi-final after knocking out Bayern Munich on a 4-1 aggregate scoreline across two legs, while Real Madrid picked Chelsea apart to reach the last four of Europe’s premier club competition.

Ahead of what promises to be another exhilarating encounter between arguably the two best sides remaining in the competition, former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has offered his two pence on the outcome of the tantalizing clash between Madrid and Man City.
